Building a BA Centre of Excellence from Scratch at a Major Bank

The Challenge

The bank had historically relied on project managers and developers to perform business analysis activities. This resulted in inconsistent quality, repeated mistakes, and a growing disconnect between business needs and technical delivery.

Leadership recognised the gap but had no internal expertise to define what a good BA function looked like or how to build one.

Our Approach

We designed a comprehensive BA capability framework covering competencies, methodologies, tooling, and career paths. We then supported the recruitment of 15 analysts across three seniority levels.

Over six months, we provided hands-on mentoring, established a community of practice, and created a library of templates and standards tailored to the bank's regulatory context.
